Meet Jennifer Gunsaullus

Jennifer Gunsaullus, Ph.D., is a sociologist, international intimacy speaker, relationship and communication coach, and the author of From Madness to Mindfulness: Reinventing Sex for Women. She lives in San Diego, CA, where she strums her ukulele, got her black belt in karate, is an active women’s philanthropist, and is an avid beach volleyball player.

Additionally, Dr. Jennifer has presented two TEDx Talks, hosted the podcast Sex Talk with Clint & the Doc, and (Trying to) Feel Sexy Again at 48. Also, she has over 1.7 million views on her In the Den with Dr. Jenn YouTube series.

About the episode

In this episode hosted by Aditi Kutty, Dr. Jennifer discussed some common problems with building sexual and emotional intimacy in relationships. These problems included genetic personality, where some people are just emotionally distant, and different home cultures, such as alcoholic parents or caring for parents with mental illnesses.

According to Dr. Jennifer, learning mindfulness is essential if you want to be emotionally intimate with your partner. Being present and aware of what’s inside and outside of you helps you understand yourself and your partner.
