Meet Sue Langley

Sue Langley is a keynote speaker, global consultant, and positive leadership expert.  She specializes in the practical applications of neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and positive psychology, synthesizing science and research into simple, practical tools that anyone can use. 

As the CEO and founder of the Langley Group, Sue has taught thousands of business leaders, coaches, and consultants how to create positive work cultures and harness the brain’s potential. As academic director of the Langley Group Institute, she created the world’s first nationally-recognized Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing. 

Additionally, she has a Master’s in Neuroscience of Leadership from Middlesex University.  And was also a featured expert in the hit ABC TV series Redesign My Brain and in the award-winning documentary Make Me a Leader.

About the episode

In this episode hosted by Lu Ngo, Sue explained that emotional intelligence simply means the intelligent use of emotions and that these emotions come and go. If you’re able to manage your emotions effectively through self-regulation, that, in turn, will lead to a more flourishing life where you create better decisions.

Sue added that happiness is connected with emotional intelligence; it affects how a person perceives things in his surroundings. So, a person must have a positive mindset over a negative one since a high level of happiness increases their well-being. She also gave some practical tips on how to cultivate positive emotions when dealing with uncomfortable emotions or situations.

Emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in one’s physical and mental health and also in attaining happiness. Being emotionally intelligent will allow you to have self-awareness and self-regulation, which will allow you to make better decisions and perceive things in a better situation.
