About the episode

In this episode, host Lu Ngo is joined by Penny, and they talk about the context of the future self in happiness. Penny shared the practices she’s doing such as micro bravery and self-destruction to develop her character as a person. According to her, small acts of bravery turn into bigger acts later on, and it develops one’s confidence and courage.

She suggests doing one small action that makes you uncomfortable because growth happens when you overcome those discomforts.

Penny reiterated that for us to improve ourselves, it is essential to focus on the present or the current situation rather than looking at the future because what we can do right now will eventually be injected into our happiness.

In conclusion

Predicting our future selves is indeterminate. And the problem is that we always look toward the future and disregard living in the present. But building ourselves today by adopting practices such as learning to get comfortable with discomforts creates happiness and hones confidence for our future selves.
