Meet Dr. Marta Landoni

She specializes in perinatal mental health and is particularly interested in the somatic and physical awareness of expectant mothers and in the application of holistic and evidence-based treatments in the perinatal field, including mindfulness, narrative, and digital interventions.

Moreover, she has a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Catholic University of Milan, where she studied the influence of the 5-HTTLPR polymorphism on postpartum disorders. She is a member of the Network on Perinatal Mental Health, sponsored by the Behavioural Sciences and Mental Health Reference Centre of the National Institute of Health, which aims to collect data and experiences on anxiety and postpartum depression nationwide to gain insights into the potential impact of the epidemic emergency.

She has recently started working in Australia at the Parent-Infant Research Institute in Melbourne on a research project looking at digital and evidence-based treatments for expectant parents.

About the episode

In this episode, host Lu Ngo and Dr. Landoni delved into the importance of open-mindedness when making decisions. According to Dr. Landoni, open-mindedness encourages one to approach situations with curiosity and adaptability, thereby making one navigate change and uncertainty more effectively.

Also, Dr. Landoni initiated that being open-minded positively impacts one’s well-being in various ways since it allows one to be receptive to new ideas, information, and perspectives, which can lead to personal growth.

In addition, she said that open-mindedness plays a vital role in social relationships because it enables one to understand, empathize with, and accept others’ viewpoints and experiences. This fosters better communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution, which can lead to more substantial and meaningful connections.

In conclusion

Open-mindedness promotes personal growth, improves social relationships, and contributes to well-being by expanding perspectives, fostering empathy, and enhancing mental and emotional resilience.
