Bouncing Back

Amelia Twiss: How to Motivate Yourself | Bouncing Back #3

How do you stay motivated when your heart isn’t in it? Regardless of how generally motivated you are, we all have tasks that we don’t want to do. Maybe because you find them boring or they make you anxious. So how can you stay motivated in circumstances like these?

Meet Amelia Twiss

Amelia is a consulting psychologist who helps organizations change their culture through team design. She supports leaders in getting their teams’ design and supporting structures right to ensure better business outcomes.

As an accredited coaching psychologist, she helps leaders close the gap between where they are and where they want to be. Her background is in organizational psychology, coaching, and psychometrics.

She also facilitates the Graduate Diploma of Psychology program at The University of Adelaide. Also, Amelia is a registered Psychologist, a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, an accredited member of the International Society for Coaching Psychology, and a member of the Association for Coaching and the British Psychological Society Division of Coaching Psychology.

About the episode

In this podcast episode, host Tia Harmer is joined by Amelia, and they discuss how to stay motivated in order to achieve goals. The conversation starts by getting to know Amelia through her book recommendations and then moves to the core discussion about the practices she has built to strengthen her motivation.

Amelia said that the mindset of “just doing it” and taking action is key to getting things done. And that it is also essential to know the important things for you and take the right actions to achieve personal goals.

In conclusion

Our mindset is the driving force behind what we do and why we do it. Because every aspect of life is influenced by our mindset, which also affects our motives, just like Amelia said, rather than talking about what you’re not going to do, it’s better to focus on what you are committed to, so your energy will go toward your goal.
