Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you do not have enough space in your home for some of your things but do not want to throw them away? Having a dedicated space for storage is the first step to having a clutter-free life, and it’s easier than you think. The second step is decluttering!
Jane Cadwgan is a Professional Organiser based on the Lower North Shore of Sydney. She founded Zing Home Organising and loved to work with you to make your spaces calmer, more beautiful, and more organized. Also, she is a Professional Member of the Institute of Professional Organisers and a keen rower.
In this episode hosted by Gabriella Joustra, Jane shared that when planning to have a storage space, you need to first identify what kind of space you would like to make. For instance, some people prefer a minimalist, while others prefer a visual abundance type of organizing. It’s a matter of preference and vision for how you would like your storage spaces to be.
She also emphasized that buying shelves, boxes, gadgets, and other similar types of stuff is not the best way to organize your things, but keeping less stuff is.
Jane also suggested that you must be intentional about things you want to keep instead of the “maybe” or “for later” mindset. It helps to keep in mind that things that you’re giving away are for a cause and will be much more useful for other people.
Declutter and measure first before you commit to a storage solution since the best way to organize is to keep fewer things. Also, developing a proper mindset can make the decluttering process a lot easier.
