Setting boundaries is one way to take care of yourself; you create and apply them through your actions. But how do you set appropriate boundaries with those closest to you? And how does it affect our personal development?
Jacqui Senn is a licensed mental health counselor and motivational speaker. She
has been motivating people for the past 10 years through written words, speeches, and group work. She discovered her passion for this work by sharing some of her life experiences with others.
She graduated in 2019 from Cambridge College with a Master’s in Mental Health Counselling and is a licensed LMHC in the state of Massachusetts. She realized that through her writing, speaking, and group work, people were experiencing transformations in their self-confidence and changed reactions when obstacles presented themselves in their lives. Up to this day, she has expanded her services to include individual therapy.
In this podcast episode hosted by Aditi Kutty, Jacqui explained that boundaries are things that keep you safe, and keep people either away or closer to you. And it is how you separate your work and personal lives.
Jacqui also emphasized the need for personal development. Because through it, you are going to look within yourself and constantly evaluate yourself. This enables you to assess and develop the areas you need to improve.
She also said that boundaries need to change and that you need to keep checking on the boundaries to see where you are because through this you can create a better work-life balance.
Each individual needs to set boundaries because it is a form of self-care, and you must stand up for yourself and protect what is important to you. Knowing your limitations enables you to respect yourself and earn the respect of others.
