Christopher Shen is a psychologist passionate about developing high-performance solutions in the workplace.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in psychology from Monash University in 1994 and is currently undertaking a Ph.D. in psychology.
Christopher’s career includes senior appointments with international strategic human resources consulting firms DDI Asia Pacific International and DBM. He is a Registered Psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. He has provided psychology services for major transport infrastructure projects with great success, including the Level Crossing Removal Project, Suburban Rail Loop, Metro Tunnel, West Gate Tunnel Project, City Link Tulla Widening Project, and the Victorian Regional Rail Link. He is currently a psychologist for the Western Bulldogs AFLW team, Equestrian Victoria Jumping State Squads, and Gippsland Sports Academy.
The episode started with Christopher’s definition of self-esteem and some practices he recommended to improve self-esteem. He also went on to discuss the benefits of adopting an attitude of gratitude. They also discussed some challenges when practicing gratitude to boost your self-esteem. Despite the challenges, Christopher has recommended not giving it up as it also has effects on personal resilience.
